It is a gravy dish prepared with fresh green peas, onions, potatoes and spices, I have also added tomatoes to it but they are optional.I have cooked this dish in mustard oil because mustard oil is considered very healthy and this recipe tastes delicious in this oil itself, but you can also make Nimona in refined oil. this green peas nimona recipe is a soupy, spicy curry, delicious and rich when enjoyed with rice or rotis.

Tips For Green Peas Nimona

Nimona is made more tasty in mustard oil, so instead of refined oil in this dish, use mustard oil.

Fried urad dal badi is also added to Nimona and it looks very tasty.


Many people do not add tomatoes to Nimona, but I would definitely suggest using tomatoes in it.


Ingredients For Green Peas Nimona
  • 01 cup green peas 
  • 02 medium sized potatoes
  • Medium sized onion
  • Chopped tomatoes
  • 07 cloves garlic
  • Finely chopped ginger
  • 01 small piece of ginger
  • Half cup coriander leaves
  • 02 green chillies
  • Half tsp whole cumin
  • 01 pinch asafoetida
  • Half a tsp turmeric
  • Half a tsp garam masala
  • 02 tsp oil
  • Salt to taste


Preparation For Green Peas Nimona

Grind green chili, green coriander, garlic and ginger together.

Grind the green peas slightly coarsely.



Make Green Peas Nimona Like This

Now heat oil in a pan. When the oil is hot,add asafoetida,cumin and chopped ginger.

  • When the cumin starts crackling, add the onions and fry them till they turn pink.


When the onions turn pink, add the ground mixture and fry it lightly.

After this, add ground peas and turmeric and cook on a medium flame for two minutes.

Now add potatoes, garam masala, salt and two to three cups of water to the boil.

After boiling, cook on low flame till the potatoes are cooked, turn off the gas when the potatoes are cooked.

Green peas nimona is ready, now serve it with hot tandoori roti, naan and rice.
